The following is a letter to the editor published September 2016 in the Sublette Examiner. The Sublette Examiner is a local newspaper published in Pinedale Wyoming. The editor Stephen Crane has given me permission to reproduce the letter here. This letter speaks directly to the presidential qualifications of Mr Trump.
My specialty was disturbed children – like Trump
I am 91 years old, still sound in body and mind, and have followed politics my whole life. I have been a teacher for many years in public schools, the universities and community colleges. I have taught gifted children, hyperactive children and preschoolers.
My specialty was emotionally and temperamentally disturbed children. I firmly believe that Donald Trump fits nicely into the symptoms of that category.
He is a master manipulator of the press and his followers. He is an egotist, a blatant narcissist and a definite sociopath who lies without realization or conscience. He is not realistic or genuine. This is not news. He has been that way for all his life and in all his selfish dealings. He is not transparent at all and will never be. He cannot. He has never been really challenged because he is a bully. He is so twisted that he cannot be truly defended by real conservatives, the media or Christians. Pray for him, but please don’t vote for this monstrous misfit.
As an independent thinker, I am disappointed that all of us – Republicans, Democrats, unaffiliated and people of other parties – were not given a responsible choice on the Republican ticket. I am so sorry this clown appeared on the stage and won with lies and racist and sexist comments. Perhaps if we close our eyes, he will disappear, but that is just wishful thinking. We must go out and vote to make it happen.
